If you’ve been here for a while, you know that I do very few weddings and am extremely picky about the couples I take on. As we all know, weddings are stressful and needless to say, I don’t need any more stress in my life 😂
Nina and Ned hit my most important qualification: chill AF. From the very start they were low key and relaxed, knowing the only thing that actually mattered was that they were getting married in front of their immediate family, and then they were going to celebrate with their extended family and friends. Anything else was just a bonus.
My dad and Ned’s dad have known each other since they were kids so while technically I’ve known Ned my entire life, we hadn’t seen each other in at least 25 years. Since they live on the west coast, we met over Zoom throughout the last year until the day of their ceremony, 24 hours prior to their reception. Nina and Ned met at Bates College and Lewiston would figure into their wedding day as well - only 36 hours after the mass shooting, they were saying their vows. While everyone was well-aware of what was happening a handful of miles to our east, it was a reminder to embrace the beautiful and happy moments in life.
Twenty-four hours after their private ceremony, guests were sipping on signature cocktails and enjoying incredible food from Trillium Catering and music and dancing from East Coast Soul. The barn at Cunningham Farm was absolutely stunning and working with Margie Welch, owner of Dirigo Event Co., was an absolute dream.
