When my friend, Alison, asked if I'd want to come to Chicago to shoot her new niece back in the fall, I was first very flattered and second, confused. Didn't she know there are photographers in Chicago? She did in fact know this but wanted to give her brother Eddie and his wife Jenny a Christmas gift that also included a weekend visitor in the form of me! Never one to turn down a trip, I was all in.
I think we all had visions of a warm spring day in our heads when we picked the mid-May date, instead we had clouds, a strong wind and temps that felt more like March in the mid-40s. Luckily it didn't seem to bother Caroline, who at five months was camera-ready for almost two hours before the meltdown hit. We spent some time at Eddie and Alison's childhood home then headed out to the Lincoln Park Conservatory before the previously advertised meltdown hit. Note to self: conservatories are great for shooting on crummy weather days! With grandparents, auntie and assistant (thank you, Sarah Bell!) in tow, we had a great morning.
To all of the Freidheims, thank you for inviting me into your home and allowing me to spend a little time with you! You all were a delight, even with uncooperative weather - I hope there's a next time!
