A beautiful April afternoon was the backdrop for Mamie’s wish, a ‘she shed’ in her back yard. Mamie is a bubbly 10 year old, full of energy, easy to imagine a huge smile under her mask. She was to be blindfolded arriving home after a day exploring Mackworth Island and a visit to the Holy Donut drive-thru. But the blindfold made her nervous and at the last second she ripped it off and ran out of the car with tears of disbelief in her eyes. Needless to say I was caught a little off guard and had to scramble to catch her reaction!
Many of her friends, some of whom she hadn’t seen in over a year due to covid, were there to watch the surprise reveal, taking turns to explore inside with Mamie. The Make-A-Wish team pulled together so many amazing details including a bed for their beloved dog Milo, a desk for arts and crafts, a loft outfitted for overnight stays, and a futon for extra guests.
Mamie, her family, and friends were an absolute delight, what a treat to be involved in such a special day!
